Imago Relationship Therapy of Greater Chicago

The Institute for Imago Relationship Therapy of Greater Chicago (IIRTGC) was conceived in 1988 and formalized in 1992 as a non-profit organization with bylaws. In the early days, the group met for three hours every two to four weeks to get organized, to have peer consultation and support, and to connect socially. In 1994, the peer consultation began to meet separately, but a few years ago, stopped meeting altogether.

The IIRTGC has offered a one-day seminar, “Introduction of Imago Relationship Therapy,” to professionals, which is voluntarily taught by the workshop presenters from this area. We have also offered the singles training, the course on characterological growth, and a weekend workshop for Imago therapist couples on cherishment. We have co-sponsored many Getting the Love You Want and Finding the Love You Want weekend workshops as well as clinical training (Course 200) with IIRT. We’ve also offered many follow-up seminars, “Continuing the Commitment to Conscious Relationship,” for couples who have previously attended a Getting the Love You Want weekend workshop. We have sponsored many regional conferences. In 2003, we are presenting the Master Trainers Video Series, one at each meeting and followed by discussion. Three CEU’s will be offered.

The IIRTGC currently has approximately 60 Certified Imago Therapists, six workshop presenters, and one clinical instructor. We recruit new members by giving them lunch during their training to answer questions and to introduce them to our regional group. Following their training, we also give them a one-year free membership.

In addition to better marketing, the IIRTGC hopes to attain a sense of belonging and support with the Imago community.
