Building a Global Imago Community

At the 2004 Summit in Toronto, WE are IRI rang loud and clear. When the Board met at El Sueno in April there was a great deal of excitement and discussion about making sure that the Board adequately represented all our global membership. Virginia Thomas is leading the nominating committee to guide us through this process and review potential members from around the world.
In order to have more of a sense of WE regarding member benefits, one of the most exciting developments has been to flesh out what it would mean for regions outside of North America to join Imago Relationships International as a group. We can imagine these regional groups providing much of the support in their own countries that the New York office can do in the USA. This would include public relations, but also making sure workshop manuals are available locally in their own languages. These regional groups would have the benefit of revenue from membership and workshops to help Imago grow in their countries.
Our membership drive was very successful this year, with 777 memberships. The one snag was that many people had some difficulty renewing online – so we are overhauling our web systems this year to make sure things work more smoothly for our members.
New regional groups are now developing in Connecticut and the United Kingdom. In Australia, thanks in part to Maya’s most recent clinical training, the region is now growing, organizing, and looking forward to celebrating ten years of Imago in Australia at their regional conference in November.
Our commitment to WE are IRI also involves our plans to rotate the IRI conference to regional locations around the globe. The Board reached a difficult decision not to hold the International Conference in Croatia in 2006, in order to prepare the ground to make sure that the first conference we take outside North America will be as successful as possible. We’re now inviting Global groups outside of North America to submit proposals for hosting the event in 2007. |
